PA Agriculture Feature: Koch’s Turkey

Koch’s Turkey is a third-generation farm raising and processing turkeys at their location outside of Tamaqua, PA. The company has committed to an all-natural approach with their turkeys, implementing an all-vegetarian diet and not using any antibiotics with their birds. This results in products that are cleaner, healthier, and better tasting for their consumers.

Feeding Pennsylvania and Koch’s Turkey first worked together during the COVID response, utilizing CARES Act dollars to place multiple orders of ground turkey, which was distributed statewide to our network of food banks. Barb Koch, Executive Vice President of Sales stated, “We’re glad the food banks were able to work with our ground turkey product, especially when times were uncertain during the aftermath of COVID. It’s great to hear our product was well-received and used by Pennsylvanians to help feed their families.”

Koch’s Turkey has continued partnering with Feeding Pennsylvania and their member food banks for the past few years to supply turkey products to neighbors throughout the Commonwealth. “We have had a great experience working with Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank, which services our area in Schuylkill County, as well as neighboring Berks County. We’ve worked together to get a variety of great-tasting and nutritious turkey items to our neighbors in these communities,” said Barb.

The partnership allows Feeding Pennsylvania’s member food banks to utilize their PASS and LFPA funding to provide neighbors in their communities with all-natural Pennsylvania turkeys, both year-round and in preparation for Thanksgiving.

We value our relationship and look forward to continuing our work together to help our neighbors experiencing food insecurity by providing fresh, local, and nutritious food for themselves and their families.
