SNAP Fuels Pennsylvania’s Economy

Every $1 of SNAP that is spent generates $1.54 of economic activity.

SNAP isn’t just good policy – it’s a good investment that strengthens local economies – particularly in rural areas – by supporting family-owned grocery stores, farmers’ markets and food retailers. The dollars spent go right back into local communities through grocery stores, farmers’ markets and small retailers. In 2024 SNAP supported more than 19,060 jobs, contributed $958 million in wages and generated over $188 million in federal and state tax revenue in PA.
